Cuando Thatcher asumió en su cargo, los sindicatos tenían un poder tal que no había quién enterrara a los muertos en los cementerios. La basura pululaba por todas las ciudades del Reino Unido. Thatcher le puso fin a este desgobierno. Acabó con el monopolio estatal, redujo los costos del Estado y alentó una “nación de propietarios”, acabando así con el clientelismo del cual eran sujeto las viviendas sociales. Thatcher hizo lo que había que hacer en una coyuntura extrema de despilfarro y acracia.

 Votó asimisma por la despenalización del aborto

"En lo personal, no me sentiré más libre por pasearme con los senos al desnudo por la avenida principal. No me hará más libre tampoco no depilarme o abandonar los tacones. No es dejar de cocinar para mi compañero lo que me liberará."

When Thatcher took office, the unions had such power that there was no one to bury the dead in the cemeteries. Garbage swarmed through all the cities of the United Kingdom. Thatcher put an end to this misrule. It ended the state monopoly, reduced the costs of the State and encouraged a "nation of owners", thus ending the patronage of which social housing was subject. Thatcher did what had to be done in an extreme juncture of waste and acrace. She voted equally for the decriminalization of abortion.
